A combined visit to The Silk Museum and Paradise Mill offers a unique experience for your next group outing, and we can tailor the visit to both venues to suit your needs. We are situated at the heart of the North West, close to the borders with Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Greater Manchester. We offer something for everyone in your group – social history, engineering and technology, fashion and design.

Group Guided Tours of Paradise Mill are £8.50 per Adult. Please note: A Group is 10 Adults or more. Silk Museum entry is by optional donation ‘Give What You Can’ admission.

From small private parties to large society outings, we can accommodate groups of all sizes.

Entrance to Paradise Mill is by guided tour only and lasts approximately 45 minutes. The focus of the mill tour can be adapted to fit with your group’s interests and the timings can be adjusted to fit in with your itinerary.

Visit the Silk Museum and explore the extensive displays of our unique collections at your own pace. We recommend at least an hour for your museum visit, but you are welcome to stay longer.

We can also arrange refreshments for your group during your visit.

Access

The Silk Museum:

Suitable for baby buggy/ pram, wheelchair, mobility scooter, crutches and zimmer frame users.

The main entrance to the museum has steps, but if you either call beforehand (01625 612045) or ring the bell to the side of the front door a member of our staff will open our disabled access entrance.

The ground floor is step-free throughout and there is a lift to the first floor. Please note, some of the Tunnicliffe exhibition on the stairwell cannot be viewed by visitors with limited mobility.

There is bench seating throughout the ground floor of the museum. We also have a wheelchair available if required. There are slopes throughout and a disabled access lift up to the first floor of the Silk Museum.

Paradise Mill:

Paradise Mill is a listed industrial building accessed via three flights of stairs, totalling 49 steps.

Visitors with mobility problems may find it difficult to walk across the uneven floors. There is a lift up to the Mill, however, it can only accommodate 3 people. Currently, Paradise Mill cannot be accessed by wheelchair users.

The access to the lift at Paradise Mill is currently prohibitive for wheelchair users or those with  mobility issues while the building works continue. Please telephone the museum and ask for daily updates.

There is a drop-off point directly outside the Museum entrance on Park Lane.

Designated coach parking bays are available nearby at Duke Street Car Park, SK11 6UR.
